Local charities see number of requests rise, no (Fruit baskets) matter the season

CLARION Theres nothing else quite like the Holmes Christmas Club to bring good cheer and buoy spirits throughout the year in Wright County. A busy assembly line of about 30 club volunteers assembled a thousand fruit baskets in a back room of the Knotty Pine Tavern in Clarion on Thursday morning.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - You never leave the Baseball Winter Meetings the way you arrived. For me, the four days represented the unprecedented feat of leaving the Sunshine State paler than when I left Logan Airport.
n The monthly meeting of Orphan's Friend Masonic Lodge #17 was held on Monday, December 4 in Carlos. Following the meal and business meeting was a gift exchange. There were about 30 members and visitors present. All had a wonderful time.
